My heart is heavy to hear of Juanita's passing. I met Juanita when I started working with the CBDC in Baie Verte, and we became fast friends. We shared so many laughs, and talked a lot about our grandchildren, she was so very proud of them. Juanita was a beautiful soul, and I will miss her so very much. Sincere condolences to Levi, Derek, Wanda and their families.

Words cannot express the feelings that came over me today when I saw Juanita's Obituary notice...utter shock and disbelief to say the least, but sincere sadness and a sense of deep loss as well. I met this wonderful lady back in the mid 90's when I became employed as a TAGS Counsellor in Hr. Breton and then later as an Outreach Officer under the employ of SCCDC. I quickly learned that she was not only a remarkable asset to this organization because of her obvious skills and knowledge of the region, but she was perhaps one of the kindest, most cheerful, sincere and genuine Supervisors/Bosses I have ever known. When I was dealing with my own health issues and struggles, she was so understanding and empathetic....not only was she a professional at her job, but she too was a wife and mother who totally understood the trials of juggling all those roles. I remember many conversations where I expressed concern over missing time at work and she tried to reassure me that she understood where I was coming from and what I was going through. Her support and compassion was a huge factor in my getting through that hard time and it was perhaps one of the biggest reasons why I was so torn to give SCCDC my notice back in 2005/06, when I left my job there for other employment outside the area. Working with Juanita and the SSCDC Staff made me feel like a part of a family and Juanita perfectly filled the role of "Mother Hen". Today I feel I have lost one of my relatives, someone from my own family.....and my heart is broken. To Levi and Juanita's children/grand-children, I send my heartfelt, sincerest condolences. I know you must hold a multitude of wonderful memories of this exceptional lady; may they help get you through the days, weeks and months ahead. Take care and God Bless. (Paula & Melvin Keeping and family, Springdale, NL.).

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this message. It was a deep shock to me when I heard that Juanita had passed away, I still can't believe it. Juanita and I first met back in the 1990s when I became a Development Officer with our CBDC, however, we have both been with the CBDCs for some thirty years. Since that time and over the years, we became good friends and we have shared many laughs together (and a few late nights), with our other party friends at our annual conferences. She was a wonderful and caring person and I will miss seeing her. Deepest sympathy to Juanita's husband, children and grandchildren.

"A Life Well Lived Helping Others" To Juanita's family and friends, we will never know the extent of your loss fully, but rest assured, we certainly know a great loss being experienced by the CBDC family in this region, across the province, and beyond in Atlantic Canada. We have lost a member of our family too. Much appreciated messages of condolences are pouring into our office from far and wide to the folks at our local area CBDC and especially for Juanita's family at this time. Emails, calls, and messages of many folks she has known over the years with warm thoughts and reflections of Juanita. Juanita was about family, work and volunteering - helping others! A beloved colleague, dear friend, and “above all cherished by her family including her CBDC family” and all those she served in her dedicated work. She is one of the pioneers that started working with the CBDC movement in NL from the very inception (nearly 30 years). Her earlier career before that was much similar. Look forward to spending some more time with Juanita's family over the next few days via visitations, etc. Juanita, your life’s work lives on in the people and communities served! We will continue your work, the work you were a part of starting. Job well done!

Tara and I are so sorry to hear of Juanita’s passing. I spoke with her on Christmas Day and she informed me of what was going on, her treatment plan and so on. She was in good spirits and ready to tackle what was coming. Juanita was one of the first people I met in St. Alban’s and from there we worked together for 11 years. She was a great coworker and friend. She will be missed. My sincerest condolences to Levi, Derek, Wanda, families and friends.

It’s difficult to comprehend that she is really gone from us. Juanita was a good friend and colleague for a lifetime. Her dedication to the job of economic development of the Coast of Bays region in general and Bay d’Espoir in particular was second only to her dedication to Levi, their children and the rest of her family. Always positive, always cheerfiul and always there for assitance and encouragement. You will be sorely missed, Juanita. Rest in peace!

It is with great sadness to hear of Juanita's passing as a friend and member of the CBDC family. Juanita through the SCCDC administered my first aquaculture contract in Bay d'Espoir in the early 1990s. Juanita was always a very sincere and helpful individual. It was nice to reconnect with her after all these years when I joined the CDC Central Board four years ago. Rest In Peace Juanita and may God Bless your family in the days ahead.
